SKIN CANCER

Skin cancer is a common and locally destructive cancerous growth of the skin. There are three major types of skin cancers:

  1. The most common skin cancer is Basall cell carsinoma. It forms on the head, neck and arms but also on the body (legs, abdomen, chest). Early diagnosis and treatment is important.
  2. Squamous cell carsinoma. This cancer commonly appear on sun-exposed areas of the body such as the face, lips, ears, neck and the back of hands.
  3. Melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial. Melanoma can form on your skin, scalp, genitals and even under a nail. Warning signs of melanoma are asymmetry, border, color and diameter.
    Assymtry: One half is unlike the other half.
    Border: An irregular, scalloped or poorly defined border.
    Color: Has shadows of tan, brown or black. Can be also white , red or blue.
    Diameter: Usually greater than 6 mm but can be also smaller.
